Hi, I’m Ella — the heart and pen behind What Lies Beneath.
For most of my life, I tried to be the woman everyone could depend on — the strong one, the calm one, the one who kept the pieces together no matter how sharp they became.
But beneath the surface, I was quietly breaking.
What Lies Beneath was born from that unraveling — from therapy sessions where silence felt safer than truth, from nights when writing was the only thing that made sense, from the moment I realized that healing isn’t about erasing your past, but learning to live beside it.
Here, I write about what it means to come home to yourself — to face trauma, body image, grief, love, and the long road of becoming. My words are for the person who hides their strength behind a tired smile, for the one who has lost themselves in survival, for the one who is ready to begin again even if they are shaking.
This space is my truth — unfiltered, unpolished, and still in progress.
It’s proof that you don’t have to have it all figured out to start healing.
If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and whispered, “I just want to feel okay again,” you belong here.
Welcome to What Lies Beneath.
Where truth meets healing, and healing becomes art.
